Perimet: The Slaves

slavepic (2).png

With a wave of his hand, the Highborn in his smiling silver mask told the Cavalry to ride down those that would not work. A hundred horsemen bore down on us, their bronze lances levelled, fierce bronze masks blazing in the light of the two suns. Their impact broke our ranks, shattering our bodies and our resolve. We tried to escape, but had nowhere to run. There was great slaughter that day, and for many days after as the army hung every tenth slave in our village from a long gallows.
